Women's Health

Identifying as a woman is a source of joy and strength. And women face a unique set of concerns that can impact their mental health. Biological, environmental and psychosocial stressors can create significant mental health challenges for some women as they navigate the world. Sociocultural issues such as sexism, lower socioeconomic status, violence against women and reproductive concerns may contribute to mental health differences for women.

Common issues I address with women include:

  • Perinatal/Postpartum Mental Health

  • Miscarriage

  • Family Planning

  • IVF

  • Motherhood

  • Partner Relational Concerns

  • Self-esteem

  • Body Image

  • Substance Use

Women’s issues are men’s issues as well. Traditional gender roles and socialization can inhibit emotional expression in men, which often leads to increased depression and anxiety that can often go unaddressed. Men are also impacted by the challenges of the women in their lives and can benefit from having a safe space to talk about their concerns.

Therapy that brings attention to these issues from a feminist lens can be validating, empowering and supportive for everyone. If you or someone you love is struggling with these concerns, contact me to learn more about getting the support you need.
